The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the themes most dear to Banksy, who has exposed himself to considerable risks to raise public awareness, suggesting solutions through his art. Flower Thrower is perhaps the most famous and evocative piece, also because it appears on the cover of his book “Wall and Piece”. The piece appeared in Jerusalem in 2003, in the courtyard of a garage. The absolute naturalness of the composition shows that Banksy has achieved the best of himself. Looking at the image with a little more attention, one realizes that, although the pose is the classic one of the Palestinian boy in the act of throwing something at an Israeli patrol, he does not look like an Arab, but a wealthy Westerner, perhaps an American.
